Water Treatment Operator

Downer is an industry leader in water, providing water services to a quarter of New Zealanders. We support our customers across the full asset lifecycle from the conceptual development of a project through design, construction, commissioning and whole of life support including operations and maintenance and optimisation.

As a Water Treatment Operator, you will be working as part of a dedicated Utilities maintenance team on the Southland District Council contract delivering the most efficient and quality-driven service possible to our clients. You will work within a committed team to collectively ensure our clients long-term goals are reached within the capabilities of the treatment plants.

As a Water Treatment Operator, your key duties will include:

• Routine water treatment plant operations
• Managing workload allocation and planning forward work
• Participating in the call-out roster (once necessary knowledge is gained), responding to alarms and remote monitoring of the SCADA system
• Driving customer service delivery and quality to ensure KPIs are met

• Interest in the water industry, ideally with a water treatment qualification
• Ability to perform to a high standard
• Be able to work well within a team and by yourself
• Full class 1 driver’s licence
• Sound numeracy, literacy, and computer skills
• Mechanically minded
